The idiocy of Lou Dobbs

Please everyone...write to CNN and tell them that they should actually carry the news. Not this crap that covers for something legitimate:
And now from Eric Boehlert, at Media Matters.
I can think of three (inadvertent) positives that came out of Lou Dobbs' ill-advised embrace of the birther movement:
1) The CNN host has permanently tarnished his reputation
2) The birther movement is officially kaput (like, stick-a-fork-in-it done)
3) Rush Limbaugh is afraid to talk about birthers.
Talk about a win-win-win.

Lack of Brain sited for misunderstanding

I'm pretty sure lack of brains is the reason for less then half of Repugs believing Obama was born in the US. Never....never...let facts get in the way of emotional decisions. Why - that would be downright Republican! Ok - Democrats...show some balls. Actually - let's just ignore the stupidity and continue on with our lives pretending that they don't exist. Anyway -for more stupidity read this by Sam Stein from the Huffington Post.

Hey repugs - he really is a citizen

That's right all of you repugs who still insist that in your own demented little mind and those who can't be bothered by facts that Obama is not a US citizen can now just go away and shut up. Again - the Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino who is repeating himself after October of last year reports...again...that Obama has a US birth certificate! Read more here.

The Repugs Attempt at slowing down health care reform.

As usual it is the job of Republicans to get in the way of progress and social reform. Gawd forbid we turn into a socialist country like England where their citizens actually have...health care! Here's an article from the Huffington Post by Sam Stein: A private memo distributed by the Republican National Committee calls for like-minded advocates to help defeat President Barack Obama's health care proposals by delaying its consideration.
The memo, which was obtained by the Huffington Post from a Democratic source, provides the clearest illustration to date of the political playbook being used to stop Democratic attempts at a health care overhaul. Much of the material mirrors the speeches and presentations made by conservatives both inside and out of elected office to date. Obama's plan for health care is deemed an "experiment" and a "risk" that could bankrupt the country and dangerously change the doctor-patient relationship. Read the rest here.

Palin's son isn't even a republican!

From Rachel Weiner at the Huffington Post:
In an interview with the Washington Times, resigning Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) made a surprising admission: Her own son doesn't belong to the party she represented on the national state last fall. Asked what she would do once she stepped down from her post, Palin told the paper she would campaign for candidates she favored, whatever their party: Read the rest here.

So people should stop being so stinkin’ mean to me

I know - it happened again...two articles about our dear sweet and simple Sarah in one day...but again - it's just too good not to share. And thanks to my friend Stephanie who sends me all the good ones. Little Sarah shares her diary with us: "No one understands me. It’s like I’m speaking some Eskimo dialect or something. Andrea Mitchell follows me all the way to Kanakanak Beach and I get a French manicure and set up this huge photo op for her, even though she spooked the salmon." Read the rest here.

Like Miley Cyrus trying to read Shakespeare

Mark Morford once again shares his insights on the untimely and surprising, yet somehow humorous and just a little bit sad, resignation of Alaska's finest. Go Mark! :I know, I know, we all said we were entirely sick to death of you, Sarah, never wanted to hear another folksy, semi-coherent peep, were hugely grateful that you had mercifully receded like a perky red tide back up to the rural bucolic animal-skinned parts of podunk rusticville from whence you came. I know. Click here for the rest.

Alec Baldwin on Franken.

From today's Huffington Post from Alec Baldwin: "Three things I would like to post here:
One is to offer congratulations to my friend and one-time TV colleague Al Franken, now Senator Franken, for the patience, savvy and perseverance that he has shown in defeating Norm Coleman and winning the US Senate seat in Minnesota. Al is a smart, hardworking man whose fine mind will go a long way toward serving the people of the Land of 10,000 Lakes. More here.

Please Ignore the Palin ads

This is how it works. Google picks up words from my articles and drops in ads. So - if you want to support Sarah Palin - be my guest. But I NOTHING TO DO WITH THOSE ADS!. Thank you very much.

The Daily Palin

Maybe I should call this the Daily Palin...cuz she just doesn't stop!!! And now this from the Huffington Post by Geoffrey Dunn: "Oh My God!!! My friends in Alaska are having all the fun: Shannyn Moore and AKMuckraker, legends both, squires of free speech, calling up the spirits of Lexington and Concord on the Fourth of July, no less, and challenging the wannabe Queen of Alaska, "the deranged frostvixen quitterface" (to borrow a phrase from HuffPo's Jason Linkins), and her duplicitous court jester of an attorney, Tommy Van Flein, who apparently fancies himself barrister for the House of Hanover.....read more here.

Palin Stepping Down!

Ah yes - and now for our Daily Palin. Apparently little Sarah from Alaska is calling it quits. After Sarah Palin's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week she has announced she will be stepping down in a few weeks. In a press conference called minutes ago, Alaska's Governor Sarah Palin has announced she will not run for re-election and is stepping down as governor. Read it here.

Genius In The Bottle

More on the two lives of Mark Sanford from the New York Times by Maureen Dowd. "As in all great affairs, Mark Sanford fell in love simultaneously with a woman and himself — with the dashing new version of himself he saw in her molten eyes.
In a weepy, gothic unraveling, the South Carolina governor gave a press conference illustrating how smitten he was, not only with his Argentine amante, but with his own tenderness, his own pathos and his own feminine side." More Here.

Confirmed: God is slightly gay

Mark Morford is simply delicious.....I am sitting here right now smiling just a little, fondly recalling that famously controversial children's book, the one about the gay penguins. Remember? That positively adorable pair of them, at the Central Park Zoo, who had adopted an abandoned egg and then hatched it themselves and were raising the chick together as a couple, even though the chick was clearly not theirs -- though of course how penguins can actually tell whose kid is whose is still a question. Never mind that now. Click here for the rest.

The Climate Bill is Weak!

From Mother Jones by Steve Broder. "Rep. John Boehner is right: The climate bill is a "piece of sh*t" (that family-values crowd sure has a way with words). But not for the reasons that Orange John asserts. But because the thing is so weak as to make it ridiculous. Here's an assessment of the bill by Dennis Kucinich": And here is the rest:

Mark Sanford just can't stop making us laugh

I don't usually post more then once a day but really...seriously this is just too good. The SC Gov has found his soul mate, and it's not his wife! Wow - didn't see that one coming. Get the rest of the story from the Village Voice.

Al Franken Wins

...because doggone it he is good enough, smart enough and people like him. Just in from The Village Voice by Roy Edroso: After telling us that his wife had been praying the rosary in Rome (?), Norm Coleman congratulated Al Franken on becoming the next Senator from Minnesota. Then he said a bunch of other stuff about voters' rights and the people of Minnesota, but who cares? This fucking thing is done. Hooray for the clown! Read the rest here.

Only In America

Guns, God and Country...is this placed messed up or what???? Read this article from Alternet by Melissa McEwan: If there's one question to which I've always longed for an answer, it's: Who Would Jesus Shoot? Ken Pagano, the pastor of the New Bethel Church [in Louisville, KY], is passionate about gun rights. He shoots regularly at the local firing range, and his sermon two weeks ago was on "God, Guns, Gospel and Geometry." And on Saturday night, he is inviting his congregation of 150 and others to wear or carry their firearms into the sanctuary to "celebrate our rights as Americans!" as a promotional flier for the "open carry celebration" puts it. Faux News Is At It again....

From Scott P at Care2. : Seriously what is wrong with Fox, I mean, Faux News? I am consistently stunned at their ability to intentionally lie to the American people and yet play it off as an "honest mistake." As I am sure you cannot help but have heard—Mark Sanford, the REPUBLICAN, Governor of South Carolina is the most recent politician to admit to an extra-marital affair. Without going too deeply into the issue of Mark Sanford's affair itself i.e. politicians on both sides of the aisle have affairs (though it does only seem to be the men, eh?) but it is that much worse for the moralizing, family first, sanctity of marriage, promise keeping, legislate the bedroom behavior of others, invade my privacy, gays can't provide a stable home to adopted children Republicans to be caught having the affair because of the blatant hypocrisy. I would still like to think that a news station would have the moral clarity to not intentionally lie to the public by putting a nice big D for Democrat next to Mark Sanford's name now that he has done something naughty. U.S. Supreme Court Declares Strip Search Of 13-Year-Old Student Unconstitutional

From ACLU Online: WASHINGTON – The U.S. Supreme Court today ruled that school officials violated the constitutional rights of a 13-year-old Arizona girl when they strip searched her based on a classmate's uncorroborated accusation that she previously possessed ibuprofen. The American Civil Liberties Union represents April Redding, the plaintiff in the lawsuit, whose daughter, Savana Redding, was strip searched by Safford Middle School officials six years ago. Republicans and Family Values

Once again- for the 2nd time in two weeks those wacky republicans have had to admit to extra marital affairs. That whole family values thing - does it apply to as many families as they get involved with? Read all about it in the Huggington Post by Jim Davenport. "COLUMBIA, S.C. — After going AWOL for seven days, Gov. Mark Sanford admitted Wednesday that he'd secretly flown to Argentina to visit a woman with whom he'd been having an affair. He apologized to his wife and four sons and said he will resign as head of the Republican Governors Association.
"I've let down a lot of people, that's the bottom line," the 49-year-old governor said at a news conference where he choked up as he ruminated with remarkable frankness on God's law, moral absolutes and following one's heart. His family did not attend.
The woman, who lives in Argentina, has been a "dear, dear friend" for about eight years but, Sanford said, the relationship didn't become romantic until a little over a year ago. He's seen her three times since then, and his wife found out about it five months ago. For the rest of the story click here.

Conservatives Choke on Persian Pretzel Logic

By Leslie Savan at The Nation: The democracy movement in Iran has thrown Republican ideologues into such a tizzy of circular logic that they're stepping on their own dicta.
Neocons and hardliners may be as eager as ever to bomb-bomb-bomb, bomb bomb Iran, but are restrained this time out by the feeling that they must support Iran's courageous protesters. After all, the Twittering Green Revolutionaries, as the rightwing brain sees it, are marching in the name of George W. Bush's own vision of a "democratic Middle East," the same vision that led him to occupy Iran's next-door neighbor. Read more.

There is Nothing Un-American About Demanding Accountability for Torture

From Care2 blogger. Aaron P. ...........I've been reading over the comments on my numerous posts regarding the Bush administration's use of torture, and there is something I have to get off my chest. The comments cover the range of the political spectrum, and many are extremely thoughtful. For that, I am thankful. However, the suggestion that I'm not supportive of the military or that I'm "anti-American" because I support holding Bush, Cheney, et. al., accountable for their illegal policies is way off the mark. It's Time to Repeal DADT....

From Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand at The Huffington Post: Last week, I had the honor of meeting a proud graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point, NY - Lt. Dan Choi. Lt. Choi came to my office to meet me and discuss how we right the wrong that has occurred in his life and ensure others do not experience the same injustice.

Obama's Economic Misfits Finally Get It

From The Smirking Chimp....On Monday, two men with considerable responsibility for enabling the banking meltdown confronted the error of their ways. Legalizing Pot in California? It's about time.....

There is a buzz moving through the culture, as the public attitudes around cannabis use are rapidly shifting, that the legalization of marijuana in some states, particularly California, is a growing possibility.
Recent polling by Zogby in May demonstrated that a majority of Americans, say it "makes sense to tax and regulate" marijuana. The Zogby poll, commissioned by the conservative-oriented O'Leary Report, found 52 percent in favor of legalization, only 37 percent opposed. As Ryan Grim reports on the Huffington Post , a previous ABC News/Washington Post poll found 46 percent in support. In California, a Field Poll found 56 percent backing legalization and as a result California Gov. For more of this story click here:

15 Shocking Tales of How Sex Laws Are Screwing the American People

From Ellen Freidriches at Alternet: The older I get, the luckier I feel not to have been busted for breaking a sex law. It’s not that I have been doing anything particularly scandalous. Public sex sure isn’t my thing, and I’m not in the habit of spamming my friends and colleagues with XXX emails. But in a world where a teen can get arrested for texting a boyfriend her own nudie shots, I don't want to take anything for granted. For the rest of the story click here.

Right Wing American Terrorists

I don't think people really understand that some Americans are more of a threat to this country then anyone outside of our borders. Hate groups, right wing Christian fascists and extremist Republicans are more dangerous. Read this article from Alternet.... "In light of the shootings at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in D.C. this afternoon, allegedly committed by white supremacist James Von Brunn, Matt Yglesias noted, "I hope that everyone who mau-maued the Department of Homeland Security for expressing concern about this kind of thing feel appropriately ashamed of themselves." Ok - I find this really funny - Poor Little Miss California

See what happens when you are homophobic and xenophobic? Nothing good can come of it. Enjoy this little tidbit about Carrie Prejean and the SF Gate. : Miss California USA Carrie Prejean, who stirred up trouble for herself when she said gays shouldn't be allowed to marry, got two dreaded words from pageant poobah Donald Trump on Wednesday: "You're fired." Trump and other pageant leaders said Prejean was being sacked not because of the remarks but because she hadn't been holding up her end of the agreement she signed when she entered the pageant.

Marriage Equality Is a Theological Necessity

New York - By Serene Jones and Brad R. Braxton: As people of faith and leaders of religious institutions in New York City, we support ending the exclusion of our gay brothers and sisters from civil marriage. Opponents of marriage equality too often attempt to use arguments about religion to denounce equal civil marriage laws. As Christians, we believe it is crucial for us to support the freedom to marry for loving and committed gay couples. In fact, we believe it is a theological necessity, and we call on our state legislators to take action to end inequality now. Continue here for more:
